It seems that Yahoo, too, is always prepared and brought some cash. As Matt Mullenweg said last night, acquisitions like this are bittersweet: it’s an amazing accomplishment for David and the entire Tumblr team, but as someone with a preference for independent companies I’ll always wonder what could have been.
That said, if there’s anyone who can buck the trend on Yahoo marginalizing companies it acquires, I suspect it’s Marissa Mayer. I will be cheering from the sidelines.
